Tangled
2010
Disney
Dir. by Bryon Howard and Nathan Greno
Narrated beginning
-Flynn
-even though he says himself, it's not his story, but whatever
-bit meta ("See that old woman over there?" "creepy, right?")
Magic in story, from Golden Flower
Parents never speak
R. colour scheme = purple and gold
Mother G
-manipulative, acts loving but with bite
-a lot like r. mother in INTO THE WOODS, hm
Narration ends, then titles
ANIMAL SIDEKICK 1
Pascal (chameleon), silent, comic relief through reaction shots
R. rabbit teeth, aw
fucking huge eyes though, I couldnt stop being weird out by them, they're so fucking big
it really doesn't help in trying to convince that she's 18. she does. not. look 18. no.
A lot of "mind" singing, not sure if I like, it's odd
FLYNN - blues, browns
G - reds, blacks, greys
R charted the stars, she's really smart actually, v. skilled...
Chase sequence in forest.
ANIMAL SIDEKICK 2
Maximus, Horse, silent, like dog kinda, uptight, apples
FLYNN travels with a satchel
frying pan is used a lot, feels like frying pan = feminine / sword = masculine, and the frying pan always wins, which is nice
don't make oak and marc too close to r and flynn
oak/ r = naive, wants to leave/explore, believes firmly that they can't (needs to ask permission) but does disobey eventually
flynn/m = travels, "on the run", "doesnt sing"
don't treat oak's and ela's exploration outside like r. no grass/toes feelings or anything
Buff, gross guys singing
done.
don't do it again.
really theatrical endings to songs
good.
nice trap door design for Snuggly Duckling
(a lot of trap doors in town)
nice oak trees, with more trap doors in the middle
G, dramatic with cape, and exits with cape
R worried about dreams living up to expectations
mind singing, into, real singing, is weird
R staying with G treated as "dying"
HE CUT HER HAIR WITHOUT ASKING
mirror shattered, like in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
Dust death
Tears, healing, feels realllllly cliche
every "good" character has brown hair
mum/r = purples
dad/flynn = blues
"Happily Ever After"
THE END.
