MUSIC // Playlist

Americana/travel Playlist

Not so much the broadway or musical side of the story, more the in-between discovering new musical towns, and more driving in old cars across the country or whatever

Links - Style - Americana, Disney and Stage

I think my research set up will be:

intro
(250)

disney visual style and america in the 50's
(500)

stage design in film (the fall, dogville, red shoes)
 - bascially when films decide to forget reality and take cues from the stage
(500)

how this relates to Off The Track
-disney look, set in 50's America, in weird stage world
im not really sure how to word this area...subject, audience, techincal...what else hasnt already been said
(500)

con
(250)

(2000 words)

maybe i'll split disney style and americana style into two different sections and take out last one, explain in intro and con?

Video - Disney - All The Cats Join In

a short film done by Disney in 1946.

I saw it in my Disney Archive's book (I have three, and they should come in really handy later) and thought the time period would relate to my project so I looked it up and watched it.

It was...okay. The sketches of the dancing poses I already have should be great to use for reference but the film style I thought was a bit bland.
And the characters have creepy as hell big black dots for eyes...not sure if I like that.
And it was a bit sexist in its own special 40's way but I do love how they draw the girls' skirts, they're really bouncy and free flowing that works really nicely with the dancing.

Medium

Right now i'm thinking of either going with a "pitch bible" set up or just a set number of pictures that describe the story.
Those would most like be:

1 - Character focused
2 - Location focused
3 - Poster design

Ivan said that three images would be enough to work with...at the moment to me it feels too little but there's still all the design that comes before that and the better these pictures can look the better for my portfolio, i guess.

The only one i'd be worried about would be the "location" picture since backgrounds and locations (persepctives) have never been my strengths but it would be a good chance to show some "world building"...
